Rotties make great pets!!

In August 1995, my wife, Lori, and I took the plunge and adopted a rottweiler from the pound. This page is about him and rotties in general. When we got him, he was underweight, neglected, in poor health, and had a terrible name (Method). He was approximated to be about 9-12 months old. The first thing we did was change his name to Maverick, which has ended up to be quite appropriate. Since then we have gotten him health, happy, and somewhat obedience trained (he listens most of the time unless he doesn't feel like it :) ). One thing that I have found is that rotties are great dogs. I initially liked them for their size and appearance, but have only recently learned how fun they are. This breed has more expression and personality than any other that I have had experience with. Sometimes this is good, sometimes it is bad.

Here are some pictures of Maverick for you to see. I hope you like them.
This one shows me and Mav with him having one of his golly-gee what are you doing to me faces. This one was taken when he was a puppy and new to us.
This is of Maverick in his domain --the back yard. This is also a "puppy" picture.
Here's a more up to date picture of Mav (about 3 years old). He is resting on his bed.
Maverick with a "jeepers, aren't I a sweet innocent dog" look.

Lori and I had some behavioral problems early on with Maverick that we needed help with and I got much appreciated advice from the rottie-l mailing group. This group has about 400 members and rising, all of whom either have or care about rottwielers. These people gave us some very helpful advice that certainly helped my life out a lot and helped save Maverick and my marriage :). To join this group send e-mail to listserv@mail.eworld.com with the body of the mail being SUBSCRIBE rottie-l your_name. It is very easy and you will not regret it.
